Last week’s two-hour season finale of Law & Order: Special Victim’s Unit was filled with politically correct themes and bitter animosity toward President Donald Trump. As it was the finale, the writers and producers must have felt it necessary to pack in as much social justice awareness as possible. The network never seems to tire of cramming liberal issues down their viewers’ throats.
In the finale episode a Muslim family-owned restaurant gets robbed and a mother, husband and two daughters, who were in the restaurant after closing, get violently assaulted and/or raped with two ending up dead. The first issue the show tackles is Muslim discrimination. In investigating the crime, one Muslim store owner nearby complains to detectives that they are constantly being looked at as suspicious, possible terrorists or worse, and that the Muslim community just wants to live in peace in America.
A closely related topic introduced early in on the episode is how the Muslim community treats homosexuality. In the episode, a relative of the victims, who is a witness in the crime, runs from the scene in order to conceal his identity as a gay Muslim. Obviously having a gay Muslim character is the show’s attempt at bringing us up to speed on what they feel should be socially acceptable.
They don’t stop there. Further on in the episode we find out that one of the suspects in the crime is a Hispanic former employee who, along with his family, is an illegal alien. An attempt to hunt him down, as he works illegally from restaurant kitchen to restaurant kitchen, leads detectives to his apartment where his illegal alien wife lies and tries to cover for him. However, the NYPD detectives make sure to encourage the criminal’s wife that she and her family are safe since New York is a sanctuary city.
It’s a pretty bold statement by the show and the network that they have blatant disregard for the law and that being a sanctuary city entitles them to look the other way when they encounter illegal immigration, a crime in this country. They make assertions such as “nobody is illegal,” which is another falsehood the left tries to advance, knowing full well that some in this country actually are illegal. They can play semantics all they want but the truth is the truth.
Any opportunity the show has to insult and take shots at President Trump and his administration is never missed. The finale included the insinuation that Trump wants to ban Muslims from the United States, the allegation that he called all Mexicans rapists, and the fear that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is out of control and ready to forcefully deport illegal aliens. They also commonly portrayed the main suspects as white racist and bigoted rednecks. This is the entertainment NBC is offering its viewers.
It’s really unfortunate that so many shows take the same approach as this one and proscribe their values onto everybody else. Because so many Americans have become numb to important topics and pay no attention to current events, they don’t differentiate reality from a preposterous storyline. Apparently, though, NBC serves as a forum for cause related shows like Law & Order: SVU to take jabs on our president and demonize those who have opinions different from theirs.
