The Temporary Reopening of Government Could Benefit President Trump

Last week President Trump made the classy move to temporarily reopen the federal government and allow those workers who missed one paycheck financial relief. This could end up actually working in Trump’s favor. Even if Democrats don’t see it as a victory for him, he could claim he has a heart for those who weren’t getting paid and make House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer share the blame for the shutdown. It can’t all be on Trump, but he needs to make that point clear.

When the three of them had an open, transparent meeting inside the Oval Office prior to the shutdown, Pelosi’s and Schumer’s stubbornness was on display for all the world to see, along with their disdain for the safety of Americans and lack of consideration for all who are and have been affected by illegal immigration. Without partial funding for the construction of a border wall, Trump said, he would have no problem shutting down the government. Then he doubled down and said he would take ownership of it, even when it’s Pelosi and Schumer who were being inflexible.

Although Democrats voted for funding a border wall over 10 years ago, they are now saying and doing the opposite. But that is typical of Democrats. They say what they need to in order to get elected one more time. When funding for a wall was approved then, and even when they promised increased border enforcements as part of President Reagan’s Immigration Control and Reform Act of 1986, they dragged their feet until it was forgotten. The problem only snowballed to what it is now.

Trump is not letting that happen again. He reopened the government with a directive for Congress to find funding by mid-February. If they ignore his directive (as they most likely have no intention of complying) he plans to use his power as POTUS and declare a national state of emergency to get it done. If that happens, he only needs to explain that he gave Democrats a chance and they blew it.

Democrats will again have shown Americans that they don’t care about their safety and were never serious about taking the first step toward building a wall, which would cost a fraction of what illegal immigration currently costs U.S. taxpayers. Indeed, the cost in human lives alone is more than the cost to build a wall on the entire southern and northern border. There’s no price that can be put on human life.

The Left Create Crises Then Deny They’re Crises

One of the left’s modes of operating is to create a problem, which often turns into a crisis, then deny it’s a crisis. They do this to stir up the emotions of people sensitive and susceptible to certain key issues which are sure to tug at their heart strings. This way they can appear to be the knights in shining armor and protectors of your freedoms. Let’s face it, they’re out to gin up democratic votes.

One such crisis they created is the disaster caused by illegal immigration. By ignoring the millions of illegal aliens flooding into the United States over the past several decades, much of America has been weakened with a declining social system that is meant for American citizens. Indeed, a leftist establishment has allowed this and American taxpayers are unfairly stuck with the bill.

Some Republicans, however, are not off the hook for this. They, too, share responsibility for the economic drain on society. By turning a blind eye toward the problem and, even worse, taking part in it by employing illegal immigrants, they do a huge disservice to millions of Americans who are burdened by this situation.

Appallingly, when President Donald Trump gave a much needed address from the Oval Office last week about this very issue, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), in her rebuttal speech, called it a “manufactured crisis.” That insulted every American who has suffered the tragedy of losing a loved one at the hands of an illegal alien.

Another crisis the left refuses to take credit for is the housing crisis in 2008. After years and years of finagling the home mortgage industry, in an effort to allow unqualified applicants to qualify, the housing market took a major fall. This crisis can be traced back to the 1970s when then Democratic President Jimmy Carter initiated the Community Reinvestment Act. Democratic President Bill Clinton then re-initiated it in the 1990s. Then in 2008 the market finally collapsed.

Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac were government financial institutions that enabled irresponsible lending to unqualified applicants. This was a major cause of the collapse, but House Representative Maxine Waters refused to admit it was a problem.

On September 10, 2003, at a House Financial Committee hearing, Waters said, “Mr. Chairman, we do not have a crisis at Freddie Mac, and in particular at Fannie Mae, under the outstanding leadership of Mr. Frank Raines.” History tells a different story, however.

Some will argue that at the time of that hearing there was no crisis, but it was the irresponsible lending practices that Democrats encouraged which ultimately led to the market crash.

Aside from the many crises the left creates, there are some issues they call crises that actually are not, such as “income inequality,” “gender inequality,” and “climate change.”

So-called income inequality and gender inequality are issues the left created to again rile up the emotions of their voters and potential voters, as well as to have something to complain about, although there is really nothing to complain about.

Income inequality is a misleading issue. Whose income is unequal and compared to whom? A CEO’s income is certainly more than a mail clerk’s income. Is that income inequality? No, a CEO has usually worked hard to earn his/her salary whereas most mail clerks are at an entry-level position.

On gender inequality, the false narrative the left drives is that women make less money than men for doing the same work. Is this really true or have the numbers been skewed and situational differences been omitted in the conversation? In other words, is the real story being told? I think not.

In many cases, a woman may not make as much as a man because she may not have climbed far enough up the ladder in order to earn the same or a comparable salary, not because the corporate world is unfair toward women. Certainly there are plenty of women who are CEOs and executives of small, medium-sized and large companies, even Fortune 500 companies, who make more than men. Most got there because they worked hard and earned their high salaries.

Moreover, it is often the case that women choose to become mothers and opt for different types of careers. This means that the time off work is keeping them from working toward promotions and earning higher salaries. Also many mothers don’t work as many hours as men because they choose to be home with their families. There are all kinds of reasons there is perceived income and gender inequality.

Climate change is a different animal. Aside from the term “climate change” being confusing as it relates to “global warming” or “global cooling” (no one is arguing that the climate changes), there has been no evidence that man has been able to disrupt and harm the environment as to create a crisis. Climate change alarmists have only cited computer models for their “evidence” that the planet is in peril. This contrived crisis has been a hoax and a scam all along.

This and just about everything the left does is about control – control of your tax dollars, control of your freedom and control of your way of life. Don’t let the left take control.

Add Border Security to the List of Things Democrats are Against

The showdown resulting in the shutdown of government is really on the Democrats, even if President Donald Trump has courageously taken ownership of it. It’s a badge of honor he wears as he stands up for most Americans who really want a wall constructed on our southern border. And it’s a promise he’s attempting to keep for Americans, especially those who’ve experienced the tragedy of losing a loved one at the hands of an illegal alien, criminal or otherwise.

Democrats in Congress don’t want to protect you or your families. They don’t care about diseases brought into this country by migrants. Nor are they concerned about the drug trafficking, human trafficking, sex abuse of women and children, violent gangs and so many other crimes associated with illegal immigration. Even if they don’t actually say it, their actions, or lack thereof, certainly do.

The arguments Democratic leaders Rep. Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Chuck Schumer, among others, make are silly. They claim a wall is ineffective. Try to convince Israel of that. How many people are successfully crossing their border illegally? Virtually none.

They also claim that a majority of Americans don’t support a wall. That is complete nonsense, unless of course, by Americans they’re including illegals. It’s what Donald Trump campaigned on and probably the main reason he got elected.

Insultingly, they say that the crisis at the border is manufactured. Tell that to the families of Newman Police Cpl. Ronil Singh of Newman, California and Pierce Corcoran from Knoxville, Tennessee, both who were shot in late December 2018 by illegal aliens.

It’s interesting that when an American commits a crime, Democrats are quick to call for that person to be punished, and rightfully so, but when an illegal alien kills an American citizen, they don’t see the fact that illegal immigration is a problem.

Any sane person knows what Pelosi and Schumer know, that illegal immigration is a huge problem and that a wall would be a huge factor in preventing it. But that’s not what they want. Whether the realize it or not, they’ve exposed their true agenda. They want power, and the way to ensure that they get it is by keeping the border porous and difficult for ICE and Border Patrol officers to effectively do their jobs. And by keeping a steady stream of potential Democratic voters flowing into the country.

You can be sure that if illegals coming here were potential Republican voters, Democrats would be doing everything in their power to shut down the border.

Who’s Really Throwing a Temper Tantrum?

This week, President Donald Trump again threatened to let a “government shutdown” happen if Congress does not pass funding for border wall construction. A wall on the border of Mexico and the United States is something that Democrats certainly don’t want because the thought of losing an increased voting base frightens them.

Which is why Senator Chuck Schumer (D. NY) and Representative Nancy Pelosi (D. CA) tried vehemently to get Trump to abandon his attempts to attain funding for a wall. In an open meeting last week at the White House, where cameras were rolling for all the world to see, Pelosi and Schumer claimed they had a bill that would increase border security, but their bill did not include a wall. Trump rightly rejected it and said if he doesn’t get funding for a border wall he’s prepared to shut down the government.

While Pelosi pleaded with the President not to build the wall, Schumer accused Trump of throwing a temper tantrum by not giving in to their whims. But Trump sees right through the Democratic trickery. In the past, Republicans have been taken for fools, but this time Trump won’t be.

The notion that the majority of Americans don’t want a border wall to be built is blatantly false. The majority of Americans want so badly to keep illegal aliens out of the country, not because Americans hate foreigners but because here in America we live by the rule of law. If we don’t, we cease to be a sovereign nation.

Never mind that the lack of a border wall invites drugs, disease, sex trafficking and criminals into the country, unaccounted for, the effects of which are huge. Illegal aliens in the U.S. cost American taxpayers over $100 billion a year. Trump is only asking for $5 billion, a pittance compared to what we already spend.

It’s not a temper tantrum to threaten to shut down the government and insist on funding to build a wall, as Schumer claims. When there is a “government shutdown” nothing really shuts down anyway. Welfare payments are still made, Medicare payments are still made. Even most government employees still get paid. Those who are contracted government workers stop working until the shutdown ends, but that’s understood when accepting a government contracted position.

The government shutdown is just another lie the Democrats tell and a tool they use to scare Americans into thinking that Republicans are your enemy. It’s not true. The choice between a government shutdown and not funding the wall is an easy one. I say shut it down.

Caravan or Invasion?

Like any other linguistic controversy the left creates, the word “invasion,” used to describe the caravan of migrants who have set out to invade the United States, has been deemed off limits by the PC police. So let’s compromise and call it a caravan of invaders. That’s exactly what it is.

It seems to happen every few years or so and whether or not it’s organized by George Soros or some other far left operative is not certain. But once it starts Democrats begin creating controversy, knowing they have the liberal media and other bleeding hearts to plead the case of amnesty for these poor souls who did nothing wrong but invade our country.

We hear the same thing every time, they’re coming here to seek asylum from their respective insufferable countries. But those who are coming from Central America must travel through Mexico first, so why do they not seek asylum there? Because they’re not really seeking asylum, they’re seeking the benefits and comforts of living in America.

The controversy created by the left is really an attempt to revisit the conversation on “immigration reform” in order to push a careless, ill-advised amnesty bill through the House and Senate. This way Democrats get the voters they need to give them never-ending government control and Republicans get cheap labor.

Time and again the American people have rejected amnesty in any and all forms. Not only is it a serious threat to our national security, it’s also a slap in the face to all those who waited in line and went through the process of doing it the right way, the legal way.

As I’ve been writing for years, the United States already has a system of legal immigration. We don’t need a new system and we definitely don’t need comprehensive immigration reform. We just need a stronger commitment of enforcement.

Protecting Illegal Criminals Over American Citizens

March 8, 2018

“What the mayor of Oakland (Libby Schaaf) did the other day is a disgrace,” said President Donald Trump today in a cabinet meeting where he addressed a number of issues. One issue of major importance is the defiance of Schaaf and California Governor Jerry Brown, who have put California and American citizens in grave danger. So important is this issue that it prompted Attorney General Jeff Sessions to make a trip to Sacramento and announce a federal crackdown on California’s lawlessness.

Having declared California a sanctuary state, Brown chided the Attorney General for coming to Sacramento to make clear that California does not have the authority to make such a declaration nor will it get away with it. Brown also stated that it is unprecedented that Sessions would come with aggression and make war with California. What’s unprecedented is Brown’s defiance of federal law. Just because he declares California a sanctuary to illegal aliens, criminal or otherwise, doesn’t make it so and now Sessions is wisely cracking down on the lawlessness of Brown, Schaaf and many others who favor protecting illegal immigrants over keeping Americans safe. (And no, illegal aliens are not Americans, contrary to what many pro-illegal activists claim.)

Proponents for the rule of law have long waited for the federal government to come in and straighten out the crooked administration of California. For decades California has aided and abetted illegal aliens, ignored the problem of unemployment due to illegals taking jobs away from Americans and allowed illegal alien criminals to get away with murder, sexual violence, human trafficking, fraud and many other crimes. It’s about time.

Although Governor Brown has been an adamant supporter of criminal aliens, Oakland Mayor Schaaf has been making a name for herself recently where harboring illegal criminals is concerned. What Schaaf did is worthy of prosecution. Last week she made headlines when she announced to her community that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was planning raids to arrest those who were serious threats and in violation of federal law.

Any sane and normal person would feel good about ICE’s efforts to do their jobs and protect Americans. Apparently the liberal activist Oakland mayor has no qualms about letting criminal aliens roam free to commit horrible atrocities and hurt families in the process. It is this attitude that caused Kate Steinle to be murdered in the neighboring community of San Francisco almost three years ago.

How many more senseless tragedies committed by illegal aliens must California and the United States go through before something is done to thwart the violence perpetrated on American citizens? For their defiance of federal immigration law, obstruction of justice and putting Americans and law enforcement officers in danger, Governor Brown and Mayor Schaaf should be brought up on charges and face prison time. A message needs to be sent that rogue elected officials are not free to get away with harboring illegal aliens and letting their crimes go unpunished.

No Fault of Their Own?

In a meeting between the president and some members of Congress on Tuesday, Trump encouraged both Republicans and Democrats to work together. It’s a nice thought but those days of working together are long over. Much of the Q & A centered around immigration reform and as many have suspected, Democrats want to attach DACA to the legislation. Republicans seem more than willing to work with Democrats in order to get a deal done on the most important issue Trump campaigned on.

Before any legislation regarding DACA, immigration reform or a pathway to citizenship is written, however, it is in Congress’ best interest to have a discussion and a debate about what all that entails, how it’s good and how it’s bad. Arguments need to be made for and against all the issues so Americans can understand what truly is at stake. The discussion needs to start by establishing that any immigration bill needs to include at minimum a border wall, an end to chain migration, an end to the visa lottery system, an end to the anchor baby perceived loophole, a clarification of the 14th Amendment, and a guarantee that there will be no pathway to citizenship without first going through the proper channels that legal immigrants had to go through.

DACA proponents insist that DACA recipients (aka DREAMers) are here through “no fault of their own.” No fault of their own? What about no fault our own? Why are the American taxpayers obligated to foot the bill for crimes that took place, which resulted in hundreds of thousands, probably millions, of not only DREAMers, but also their families imposing an enormous drain on the economy, social system and security of this country – through no fault of their own?

Why can’t anyone point out that although it’s no fault of their own, it’s somebody’s fault, whether it’s the parents’ or others and those responsible need to pay the consequences? Authorities should be able to enforce immigration law on those who broke our laws regardless of an unconstitutional executive order from a previous U.S. president.

Another argument for keeping DACA is that ending it would break up families. Well when somebody commits a crime, that sometimes happens. When an American citizen commits a crime and goes to jail, he/she breaks up a family. When somebody comes to this country illegally, gets caught and put in jail, that person broke up his/her own family. We shouldn’t make provisions for illegal alien law breakers.

It’s so disheartening and quite pathetic really that we have a Republican Senate, Republican House and a Republican president that can’t seem to get anything positive done. They seem to be trying to cater to Democrats. But why? The Democrats don’t cater to Republicans when they’re in control. Nothing stops them from implementing their agenda.

I understand big things take time but what is Congress doing? Why aren’t plans being presented? There are enough senators and representatives that multiple things can happen concurrently. One team or committee could work on immigration, another on tax reform, some on repealing Obamacare, etc. It doesn’t have to be one thing at a time. Let’s get committees to come up with plans and present them. Let’s get the balls, plural, rolling.

Maybe the fact that things aren’t getting done shows that some Republicans aren’t willing to support Trump’s agenda and make America great. But then again, after the meeting on Tuesday I’m not sure what Trump’s agenda is anymore.

DACA Supporters, Protesters Prove to be Criminals by Blocking Traffic on a Busy Morning

Supporters of DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals), the unconstitutional executive order President Obama put in place in 2012, took to the streets of Westwood today, blocking Wilshire Blvd. at Veteran Ave., one of the busiest areas in Los Angeles, as it is close to a federal building and the University of California at Los Angeles. Following the premeditated plan to unlawfully assemble, protesters placed bunk beds in the intersection while several protesters chained themselves across the wide intersection, inhibiting traffic from moving and causing massive delays.

It all happened on Thursday, October 5, 2017, the day of the deadline for DACA recipients to renew their work permits. DACA recipients, also known as dreamers, along with supporters claim they are protesting for their “right to be human,” which is an absurdity. No one is saying they are not human. Many people are saying they are illegal aliens in this country since they and their parents came here illegally and need to be deported, the parents anyway.

Facts are facts but that often gets in the way of DACA proponents’ and pro illegal groups’ objectives. Many want the U.S. government to recognize all “undocumented immigrants” as citizens even though they have not gone through the proper channels and earned their citizenship.

It’s a huge slap in the face to those real immigrants who did it the right way, paying large fees and waiting several years to eventually take part in a ceremony where they take an oath to the United States, agreeing to abide by its laws.

Those who took part in blocking traffic did not abide by the law but committed a crime by unlawfully assembling in the intersection, according to LAPD. Their arguments, one of which is that illegals have a right to be here, are weakened when they display their unlawfulness. Good luck trying to convince President Trump and Congress that they should be able to stay.

Illegal and undocumented “immigrants” already place a massive burden on local, state and federal economies as it costs billions of dollars in education, healthcare, emergency room services and other social assistance the government provides them.

According to Angelica Salas, Executive Director of the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights, says that repealing DACA is a “bait-and-switch” by the government. The problem with that is that DACA is unconstitutional in the first place. It was Obama who provided the “bait.” President Trump merely “switched” it back to where it is supposed to be. Another problem is the name of Salas’ organization. No one is treating illegal aliens inhumanely. Illegal aliens aren’t “immigrants” and they don’t have rights other than to be treated humanely, which they are.

What about the humane treatment of U.S. citizens? Why are they put in a position of having to foot the bill for this? Why are many pushed out of jobs from corrupt companies willing to break the law to employ illegals for less? What about the cost in unemployment benefits the government incurs caused by illegals taking jobs away from Americans? Those are the real concerns that don’t get media’s or Congress’ attention.

Like any other hot button issue of the day, it’s time to have a conversation that includes why illegal immigration must be stopped in its tracks, why the border wall needs to be built immediately and the border secured once and for all. Until then, we don’t need to hear about “immigrant rights.”

Dreamers or Demanders?

We’ve all heard the sob stories of those “undocumented immigrants” (read illegal aliens) who are really good people and here because they want a better life, and only want to do jobs that Americans won’t do, and blah, blah, blah. In the dreamers’ case it turns out they want a whole lot more. Just ask House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).

On Monday Pelosi tried to speak to a gathering of DACA dreamers. It was a huge security fail as the group managed to make its way onto the stage and surround Pelosi, interrupting her with ridiculous chants of “you lied” and other inane comments. It’s a mob mentality they have and they expect this tactic to somehow gain them favor? These are the “immigrants” Pelosi and her Democratic party have been going to bat for.

It’s not just a plea to the government to let them stay that’s annoying, it’s the flurry of demands to receive benefits, government assistance, instant citizenship, the right to vote and anything else they think they deserve. Their insidious demands would cost billions and billions of taxpayer dollars. What sane government would do such a foolish thing? Democrats are probably all for it and several Republicans seem willing to cave. Sensible conservatives are the ones who want fairness, justice and the rule of law to prevail.

For Democrats these DACA recipients and their families represent Democratic votes. You can be sure that if DACA recipients and their families were to vote for Republicans, Democrats would be fiercely against what they now are adamantly for.

On that note, here’s an idea. Let’s keep DACA in place and even allow the illegal parents to stay in this country provided that each person, DACA recipient and parents alike, count as one Republican vote in every election they would otherwise be able to vote in, for as long as they are here in America. Would Democrats and illegal alien sympathizers be happy with that? I think not.

If we just let the estimated 800,000 DACA dreamers stay, which is only the conservative number they give us in their talking points, what does that say to those real immigrants who waited in line, paid enormous fees and came here legally? It’s a huge slap in the face.

DACA, DACA, DACA

With the recent termination of the DACA program, protesters, “dreamers,” illegal aliens and sympathizers have been making their voices heard loud but not clear.

DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) is the unconstitutional dictate former president Barack Hussein Obama imposed after stating publicly that he doesn’t have the constitutional authority to do what he ended up doing anyway. DACA basically says that those who came here as children, with their parents or another guardian, for example, and through no fault of their own, need not fear being deported, after all they are here “through no fault of their own.” What never seems to be acknowledged, however, is that their parents came here illegally, through EVERY fault of their own and rightly should be deported.

It’s a deceptive trick they played and continue to play on America by sneaking over with their children, creating a situation that makes government appear to be breaking up families should it do the right thing and deport the law breakers. Actually those who break the law are responsible for breaking up their own families when they make the conscious decision to cross the border into the US.

Proponents of illegal immigration spew the same talking points and try to make the point that “undocumented immigrants,” DACA recipients or otherwise, whether or not they’ve been here five years of 35 years, no matter how they got here, deserve to be here and need to be given rights, benefits and anything else not privy to the average US citizen, since they’re paying taxes and contributing to the economy. That point is totally moot since illegal aliens are not supposed to be here in the first place. Paying taxes and contributing to the economy is not a pass for being here illegally. Americans are paying and contributing most to the economy anyway, not illegal immigrants. Their contribution is very minimal especially considering much of what is earned is sent back to family members still in their home countries.

Those in support of DACA must not understand how government policy works. Or possibly they ignore facts and rely on the opinions of their friends and untrustworthy reporters and journalists. Too many people don’t understand the importance of having a secure border and a sound immigration policy. We don’t close our borders to keep any certain type of people out and it’s bigoted to suggest that. Every country must protect its borders and carefully vet anyone who enters. America is no different. We have a right to be a sovereign nation and expect the rule of law to be followed.
